Wednesday saw the return of the brickies - yeh! Since then it has been a flurry of activity with plumbing finished off, heating and cooling ducts installed, insulation installed, temporary doors installed, solar panels fitted and the plasterers doing what they do best. Very surprised to see them on site this Sunday morning and even more surprised that in one day they have completed entire downstairs area and upstairs ceiling.
Day 2 saw them finish off hanging the plaster and taping the joins.
All we needed was an interpreter to help explain that we had to install the HDMI cable in the theatre room ceiling before they hung the plaster.
We caught up with our SS during the week and despite the delay originally with the framing and more recently with the brickies we are only about a week behind his schedule.

Wow! Great progress! Wonderful to see the inside steaming forward even though the brickies haven't finished.
Great that you are only a week behind SS's schedule.
Plaster is fantastic isn't it?
Hi G&V,
Wow, major progress at your place!
Seems like you've got every tradie know to man on your site.
Is that soundproof insulation I see in the retreat photo? It's darker in colour than the standard insulation.
Once the plaster is done, that's when the inside really starts to take shape and you get a real sense of space in each room.
A tip: Check that the roof tiles have been put back on after your evap unit goes on the roof. Because it's out of sight, it's out of mind. Once the plaster goes up, you don't want the rain pouring down the inside of the plaster wall, through the insulation, which is what happened with us. Caught it just in time though.
Expect heaps of regular posts and photos from you now that things are powering ahead :)
Cheers
Liana
Fantastic, guys - a week is nothing, they'll make that up no problem. We had almost a couple of months of zero activity & changing SS, etc, and it looks like we'll only end up over contract by 2 weeks or so, so I'm sure you'll still finish early!
Went through "your" house last week - beautiful! LOVE that straight kitchen island bench, and the stair case ;-)
Oh, and there's another one going up, too!
Glad you got those brickies into action. Interesting that plasteres look to have started before the bricking was completed.
I relate to your interpreter comment re plasterers. Mostly Chinese and read and speak very little English. I visted my site one afternoon and found one of them sound asleep in my kitchen area. Had a chuckle.
Guys,
amazing how much they have done is such a short time.
